Objective
|
The contest is aimed at increasing current La Salle students' loyalty to the school and
their awareness of the presence of the old boys' community.
|
About the contest
|
The contest is organized by La Salle College Old Boys' Association, Edmonton Chapter and the
La Salle College Students Association.
The contest is open to all students in the two categories listed below. One winner will be chosen
from each category provided that there are at least five entries in the category.
|
Prize
|
A free trip to attend the La Salle Old Boys' Global Reunion 2006 to be held in the city
of Edmonton, accomodation included. The winners are free to attend all activities listed in the
scheduled program.

Eligibility
|
The contest is open to all La Salle students in the following categories:
- junior: current students studying in Form 1 - 5
- senior: current students studying in Form 6 - 7 and those who took HKCEE in 2001 or after
|

- From good to great (focus on how should La Salle stand tall among
the top schools in Hong Kong)

Submission
|
- All submissions should be prepared in electronic format with a covering page containing
information about the author.
- The essay should not contain any information about the author. This arrangement allows
anonymous judging.
- All entries in the junior category must not be shorter than 400 words in length while the
essays in the senior category shuold have a minimum word count of 800.
- All entries should be submitted to
lscpb.oba.writing@gmail.com.
- All submissions must be submitted on or before 11:59:59pm January 4, 2006 Hong Kong local time.

Judging
|
- All submissions will be reviewed for pre-selectiion.
- 10 finalists will be chosen from each category.
- The finalists' entries will be reviewed by 4 groups of judges.
- Group 1 judges are representatives of the school management and teachers.
- Group 2 judges are representatives of the various old boys association and chapters.
- Group 3 judges are representatives of the sponsors (old boys).
- Group 4 judges are the current and former students of La Salle.
- The final score for each entry will be the weighted average of the scores from the 4 groups
of judges: 30% for groups 1 - 3 and 10% for group 4.

Judges
|
- Teachers of La Salle College will be in charge of the pre-selection process.
- Group 2 judges include: LSCOBAHK, East Coast (USA) Chapter, Edmonton Chapter, San Francisco
Chapter, Singapore Chapter, Southern California Chapter, Toronto Chapter and Vancouver Chapter.
- Group 4 judging will be done online and open to the current and former students of La Salle.

Conditions
|
- All entries become the properties of the organizers and will not be returned.
- Entries may be published in non-profit-making publications.
- All essays must be written in English.
- The winners may be required to write a report on his trip.
- Winners should be responsible for their own travel document.
- All late submissions will NOT be accepted.
- All entries must be original and has never been published before.
Plagiarism is strictly forbidden.
